Lucy Mukuria. Founder.

Lector – Rasta Opplæringssenter. Has eleven years experience in adult education. She also works for the UN seconded by Norwegian Refugee Council. She has worked for different UN organizations e.g. UNICEF, WFP and UNHCR as a nutritionist, capacity builder and food security expert in Darfur, South Sudan and Yemen. Lucy has a masters in nutrition, health and environmental sciences. She was the treasurer of Kenyan Women on the Move and Kenyan Norwegian investment group from 1999 to 2012. She also is a director of marketing and strategy for Folk Magazine and also writes a column on nutrition in the magazine.

Kariuki Mukuria. Board Member.

En: Architect – NSW Educational background from Oslo School of Architecture as well asdoctorate courses from AHO.

Extensive professional experience from Kenya and Norway, with projects including: The Green Belt Movement Center in Nairobi, Embu Msongari Primary School Nairobi, ExTelcoms offices in Embu, Karmelitt Monastery in Tromsø, The new National Hospital in Oslo and St. Olavs University Hospital in Trondheim including other developmental projects nationwide. Fieldtrips to an array of destinations including Japan, England, Switzerland, Spain, Finland, Austria, Liechtenstein, Holland and Portugal.

Yngve Ruud. Board Member.

Yngve har de siste fire årene jobbet i voksenopplæringen for flyktninger og innvandrere i Lørenskog kommune. Fra 1980 har han jobbet som lærer, hovedsakelig i grunnskolen. Han er utdannet adjunkt med tilleggsutdanning i sosiologi, pedagogisk veiledning og matematikk. Han finner det meningsfullt og givende å hjelpe mennesker som lærer og utvikler seg. Drivkraften for han som tillitsvalgt og lærer er trangen til rettferdighet og muligheten til å utgjøre en forskjell for noen.

En: Yngve is a teacher, with additional education within sociology, pedagogic guidance and mathematics.  For the past four years he has been working with refugees and immigrants at the adult school in Lørenskog municipality. Yngve is driven by helping others, and finds his role as a teacher to be motivating as he is able to have a positive impact on the lives of other people.

Frida Karina Rusnak. Accountant.

Utdanningsbakgrunn fra HiO med bachelor i utviklingsstudier samt årsstudium i økonomi og ledelse. Utenlandsopphold i India og Sør-Afrika som del av studieforløp. Frivillig erfaring inkluderer prosjektlederstillinger I UNGMED, Oslo, som fremhever tiltak for å øke ungdoms deltakelse i demokratiske prosesser og i kampanjen “Bruk stemmeretten din”, i forbindelse med fjorårets lokalvalg. Også jobbet med fundraising for Amnesty International. Bereist kulturentusiast med glødende interesse for utviklingsspørsmål og politiske prosesser.

En: Educational background from Oslo University College with a bachelor’s degree in development studies and studies in economics and management. Her studies included stays abroad in India and South Africa. Work experience from project manager positions at UNGMED, Oslo, a project aiming to increase youth participation in democratic processes, and for an information campaign targeting young voters during last year’s local elections. Also worked on fundraising for Amnesty International. Experienced traveler and culture enthusiast with passion for development issues and political processes.

Cecilie Dons Wallebek. Web manager.

Rådgiver ved Seksjon for internasjonalisering ved Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge. Tidligere jobbet ved Kyambogo University i Kampala, Uganda, Telemark og Sør-Trøndelag fylkeskommune og Taveta Town Council, Kenya. Erfaring fra oppgaver knyttet til utdanning, undervisning, internasjonalt arbeid, entreprenørskap, miljø og samfunnsutvikling. Utdanningsbakgrunn fra NTNU, bachelor i kunsthistorie/historie og master i tverrfaglige kulturstudier. Pedagogikk fra tidligere Høgskolen i Telemark.

En: Adviser at the University of South-Eastern Norway, in the International Relations Section. Previously worked for Kyambogo University in Kampala, Uganda, Telemark and Sør-Trøndelag County Authority and Taveta Town Council, Kenya. Experience in working with topics related to education, teaching, internationalization, entrepreneurship, environment and development. Studied at Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim (NTNU); A Bachelor of Arts and a Masters Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture within Science and Technology Studies. Pedagogical education from Telemark University College.

They will help Learning Means by: 1. Making sure the students come from the targeted background. 2. Since these student come from all over Kenya, and will sometimes not get visits from parents during the school year, the women group will also be visiting them.
